FAQ
1. Who should attend FYP?
Youth and Young Adults who:
- have questions about faith and life
- are wondering about God’s call for their lives
- have an extended amount of time from January to March should attend FYP. These include those on a gap year, those waiting for Uni or NS to start or those looking for work or in between jobs.
Those who are below 18 years of age must be strongly recommended by their youth worker / pastor to attend.
2. What are the minimum requirements to participate in Fyp?
- Youth and Young Adults who are recommended by their youth worker/pastor.
- Participants must be able to attend at least 90% of the lessons, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, be present for the Service Learning trip and graduation week.
Applicants from other churches and denominations are welcome. For further enquiries, please email cacboymfyp@gmail.com
3. Is FYP free of charge?
ALL participants need to pay a discounted course fee of $550 (Early Bird, ends 14 December 2025) or $650 (Regular). This fee does NOT include the cost of the Service Learning trip (amount varies from year to year; funds will be raised for the trip).
Participants from non-CAC churches and other denominations will need to pay a discounted fee of $800 for the 3-month programme.
If you are a member of any of the Chinese Annual Conference (CAC) churches, you may approach your Youth Ministry Coordinator for more information on the course fees if needed. Your full commitment to the programme is thus required.

5. How is FYP different from other discipleship programs out there?
6. The topics covered look very deep. Is FYP only for intellectuals?
No. While the intellectual component is somewhat heavy (there are lectures to sit through and readings that participants are required to do), the methodology of the programme emphasises learning in community. Mentors and facilitators are on hand to help break down understanding, and there is ample time for group discussions that will help process what has been learnt. The spiritual formation and community life aspects of the programme also ensure that participants grow holistically and not just in head-knowledge.
7. It is stated that churches are strongly encouraged to give an allowance to participating members. What is the allowance for?
8. I can only make it in February. Can I join FYP later in the programme?
We strongly encourage participants to be present from the start of the programme as the curriculum is sequential and each week’s content builds upon the previous ones. See Q.8.
9. Can I work part time, after FYP hours?
We do not encourage FYP participants to work part time as they will be unable to join the activities and fellowship that are organised in the afternoons, detracting from their overall experience. Participants will also need the extra time to complete their readings so that class discussions are fruitful. Should participants need to work to ease the financial burden on the family, they should approach their church leaders or any member of the FYP committee. See Q.8.
10. Can I take a short break to travel during FYP?
Unless the participant has to visit his/her family members in our neighbouring countries, we strongly discourage FYP participants to do so as it may affect the overall learning experience – both for themselves, as well as the other participants. See Q.8.
